BHDC Joins China Telecom’s eSIM Sub-Alliance as a Founding Member

GUANGZHOU, China — December 4, 2025 — At the 16th Member Conference of the China Telecom Terminal Industry Alliance, China Telecom and its ecosystem partners officially launched the China Telecom Terminal Industry Alliance eSIM Sub-Alliance. Beijing Huahong (BHDC) was invited as a founding member, joining leading chip vendors, module makers, and platform providers in issuing a joint eSIM Cooperation Initiative.

Why this alliance matters now

The timing is significant. In October 2025, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) approved all three major operators to begin commercial eSIM trials for smartphones — a landmark regulatory shift after years of policy caution. With eSIM-enabled smartphone shipments in China expected to grow rapidly over the coming years, the market is entering a pivotal expansion phase.
Against this backdrop, the eSIM Sub-Alliance aims to accelerate ecosystem readiness: aligning technical standards, coordinating terminal compatibility, and ensuring interoperability across chipsets, platforms, and devices.

BHDC’s role in the ecosystem

As one of China’s few providers offering a complete eSIM technology stack, BHDC brings deep capability to the alliance:
  • eSIM Cards (eUICC): Consumer, industrial, and automotive grades — all GSMA-certified with EAL5+ security and support for RSA/ECC algorithms
  • eSIM Management Platform (SM-DP+): A GSMA SGP.22-accredited platform for remote SIM provisioning, supporting multi-carrier profile management
  • eSIM IoT Remote Manager (eIM): A next-generation SGP.32-compliant platform for zero-touch onboarding of massive IoT device fleets
  • LPA/IPA Software SDK: Plug-and-play integration kits for OEMs building eSIM-enabled smartphones, wearables, and IoT terminals
This “Device–Network–Cloud” full-stack capability positions BHDC to play a practical role in bridging the gap between standardization work and commercial deployment.

The bigger picture

The establishment of the sub-alliance reflects a broader industry consensus: eSIM is no longer a niche technology for smartwatches. With smartphone OEMs designing eSIM-only flagship models and IoT device makers demanding scalable remote provisioning, the infrastructure layer — chips, platforms, security — must keep pace.
For MNOs and MVNOs outside China who are evaluating eSIM platform partners, BHDC’s founding role in this alliance signals its standing at the center of China’s rapidly maturing eSIM supply chain.
